Protect your water heater from limescale in Oman

A water heater makes hard-water deposits easier to notice. As water is heated, minerals can form scale on hot components and nearby surfaces. In an Oman villa or apartment, that may mean a heater that needs cleaning, a change in hot-water performance, or crust around fittings.

Why limescale forms in a heater

Some signs can indicate an electrical or pressure issue. Switch off power and use a licensed professional if you suspect an electrical fault.

Cleaning is not the same as prevention

If scale is already present, a descaler does not instantly wash it away. Existing deposits need appropriate cleaning, flushing or component service. Follow the heater manufacturer instructions and use a qualified technician for opening, draining or electrical work.

Prevention and cleaning are separate tasks. Cleaning deals with what has accumulated. Scale control aims to make new deposits less likely to adhere in the first place.

What Eddy does and does not do

Eddy helps with limescale adhesion. It does not chemically soften water, remove calcium and magnesium, lower TDS or reduce salinity. If your concern is salty or high-TDS drinking water, you may need a separate filter or RO assessment. If the heater already has thick deposit, arrange cleaning rather than expecting an electronic unit to chemically descale.

The same scale-control approach can be relevant to washing machines, dishwashers, shower fittings and taps. Maintain each appliance according to its own manual.

DIY or professional installation?

The Eddy unit is 99 OMR ex-VAT and is designed for a straightforward DIY fit: position coils on the incoming pipe, mount the unit, connect the supplied adapter and check indicators. No standard pipe cutting is required.

Will Eddy repair a heater that is already scaled?

No. Eddy is intended to help reduce new limescale adhesion. A heater with existing deposits or a fault needs safe cleaning and, where necessary, qualified diagnosis.

Where should Eddy go in a roof-tank home?

Is a water heater a reason to buy a salt softener?

It can be one reason to investigate hardness treatment, but it does not decide the choice on its own. A salt softener removes hardness minerals; Eddy provides salt-free scale control while leaving minerals in the water.

Can I handle the electrical connection myself?

The unit uses an Oman 240V Type G adapter, but do not alter wiring or add an outlet yourself. Use the existing suitable outlet or arrange a licensed electrician through the professional install service.
